Since 1997 · Paterson & NYC
Rooted in heritage,
rising in dough.
Simit, poğaça, börek and fifteen kinds of baklava, made by hand by the Taşkın family.
Fırından · From the oven
Turkish first.
English on the side.
We call our bakes what they're called on a street in Eskişehir. Say them however you like at the counter. We'll know what you mean, and we'll wrap it in paper like this.

Poğaça, split, on the wrap paper this page is cut from.

Pide and sesame loaves, torn while still warm.
Tatlı · Sweet
Baklava
Fifteen kinds. One tin.
By the piece at the counter, by the tray for a wedding, by the tin for whoever you're visiting this weekend. Ask for a mixed tin and we'll fill it the way we'd fill our own.
“…the golden sesame seeds that leap off the simit when you bite in, bejeweling your cheeks, your clothes, all the hidden crevices of your car.”
The rings rarely make it past the parking lot.

EVİMİZ · Our home
It started in a corner
of someone else's oven.
Before
Kadir Taşkın bakes in Eskişehir, then in restaurant kitchens around Paterson.
1997
He pays $1,600 to rent a corner of a Paterson bakery, bakes at night when the ovens are free, and carries the bread to restaurants and markets himself.
2016
The family owns 103 Hazel Street. Thousands of breads a day go out to New Jersey, New York, Long Island, Pennsylvania and Florida.
Now
Hazel Street, UN Plaza and 47th Street. Same dough, same hands, a new generation of Taşkıns running it. Every kid who walks in still gets a cookie.
One family. Baked with love.
The ovens on Hazel Street. The lights stay on all night.

For more than one
For your table.
For your counter.
Wholesale is how this started: bread on Kadir's back, door to door. It's still most of what comes out of the ovens. Catering is the same dough, on a tray, for your people.
Catering
Trays of börek and poğaça, bread baskets, dessert boxes and baklava by the tin, baked fresh for your occasion.
48h
notice, please. More for a wedding.
Wholesale
Simit, pide, börek and pastry for cafés, restaurants, hotels and markets across New Jersey and New York.
2pm
order by two for next day. 24–48 hours on the rest.
Üç fırın · Three bakeries
One dough,
two cities.
Every simit still starts on Hazel Street. The vans leave Paterson before sunrise for Turtle Bay, where the coffee and the çay are already on.
